Growing up amongst the farming and artistic communities of New York's Hudson Valley shaped a resourceful, no-fuss approach that seems to show up in everything I create. Now I work out of a 120-year-old cottage, surrounded by historic architecture, old craft traditions, and California's incredible flora. I'm inspired by the colors and vibes of the 60s and 70s, probably because I love that orange-gray California light that makes everything look a little dreamier.
The physical act of making letters compels me. Writing is so human — we invented everything about it — the words, the letterforms, the endless ways to play with them. Taking time to letter by hand makes words feel more intentional, whether I'm creating an “Employees Must Wash Their Hands" sign or pondering why we're here on Earth.
My curiosities tend toward quirky tidbits of recent history, philosophy and perception, writing and language, compliance laws, and all the other odd things humans have been up to. I'm drawn to the whimsical, nostalgic, and offbeat.
Every piece is original and hand-drawn by yours truly. Each print is made to order and professionally printed on museum-quality archival paper with archival inks. Framed prints are hand-framed in quality, solid oak or metal frames. Cards are printed on thick, FSC-certified card-stock with recycled paper envelopes.
